Theft Aware v2.0 For Symbian Contest | Seven Licenses Up For Grabs

Nowadays people store more than just contacts and messages on their device, with access to Facebook, emails, and even USB-like mass storage capability, it can turn into a traumatic experience if your phone was lost or stolen. Well, its better to be safe than sorry, so hit the jump as we introduce to you Theft Aware 2.0, which enables you to remotely control your handset via SMS.

Theft Aware works in a very simple way. Once installed on your device, it will silently protect your device by giving you remote access to it via text messages (SMS). Simply send an SMS containing your personalised access code and the SMS command to your phone. Theft Aware will then process the command and reply to you via SMS. The sent or received SMS will leave no trace on the mobile phone that communication has taken place.

Command List:

UPDATEGet the current location of the mobile
LOCK/UNLOCKLock the phone to prevent unauthorized access. Even emergency calls are still possible without losing protection!
SIREN ON/OFFLet the phone issue a piercing loud siren sound. You are even able to customize the siren sound.
WIPEWipe sensitive data
GET CONTACTSRescue the contacts stored in the phone book
GET SMSRescue SMS that are important to you. You are also able to specify which text messages should be rescued.
GET PROTOCOLAccess the phone protocol. You are able to query call or SMS events that happened recently.
CALLThe phone will call you or other phone numbers. Then the called party can listen to what happens on the “other side”.
SETAll Theft Aware settings can be changed by SMS command. To look at a detailed list of those commands, please consult the user manual.
LAUNCH/SHUTDOWNLaunch and shut down Theft Aware remotely.
FREELY CONFIGURABLEYou’re able to launch any program on the target phone by SMS and pass data to it. So, if you’re a programmer you’re even able to program your own customized SMS commands.

After installation Theft Aware will be visible until activated. Once you activate Theft Aware, it will switch into Stealth Mode and will vanish from both the menu and application manager. This is a great feature as thieves could easily browse through the phones menu and notice such apps and delete them. Also when using the Get Location command, you will receive a text message containing a link to the location of the device on an online map.

Theft Aware is compatible with all Symbian smartphones and is currently available for €9.99 EUR.

To be in with a chance of winning a full v2.0 license, simply download the free trial for your S60 3rd Edition, S60 5th Edition or Symbian^3 handset, and leave a comment below. Contest ends on Tuesday 18 January, when seven winners will be randomly selected.

NOTE: Users can only comment once, multiple comments will be discounted completely. Also please remember to leave a valid email address so that we can contact you if you win. Good Luck!
